James Inman Poet Sonnet

Love

Love?  Of love I do not know, only dreams.
I know of pleasure, gentle caresses
longing looks as your partner undresses,
but is love shared only through soft moonbeams?
Is love ever what we dream it to be,
passion unabashed and fervently shared,
or turbid emotions leaving us scared?
Perhaps it is as plain, for me, as the
ardent reverence for beauty and life,
knowing excitement when your child's face beams
or simple pleasures of sharing sweet dreams,
and never keeping your anger or strife.


Perhaps in truth it's all of the above,
passion, purity, pleasure     it's all love.
