Love

Your love for me, Is like a blanket when I’m cold, When you hug me you say, “There’s something you need to be told. You’re not by yourself, In your suffering and pain, Who do you think, Hides your tears in the rain? There’s Someone Who loves you more than me, His Home is in the Heavens above, When I hug you tight, you feel something new, You’re actually feeling His love.” Then you hug me tight some more, And whisper in my ear, “With God on your side, You have no need to fear. He has loved you, Since before you were born, He provides rest for the weary, Tired, and worn.” When you let me go, I look at you with awe in your eyes, And think to myself, “This person’s quite wise. How do they know, Exactly how I feel, Enough to reassure me, That God’s love is real? Is it that obvious, Can they see it in my eyes, Or is it because, This person is wise?” “I’m not finished with you yet,” And you pull me close again, You whisper in my ear, “God forgives your every sin. By hugging you, I’m saying, God’s love is real, He’s the only One, That knows exactly how you feel. I hope you’ve learned the lesson, Of God’s love for you, When I give you a hug, God’s saying He’s not through.”
