Lost To Fire

Blackened skeletons display twisted limbs
Ghastly silhouette against a blue sky
More years than a lifetime it takes to mend
Their image has been destroyed from our eyes
More than beauty was their life ambition
Food and shelter to others they did yield
many gave their lives to fuel our mission
Kill and clean them out to plow the next field
Cast off canopies will nourish the earth
Their feet hold back the ravages of rain
At Christmas time they symbolize a birth
Their flesh when crossed tells us of His pain

Trees are so much more than ours for just shade
And so much lost when wildfires rage
