Lost

Lost
in a sea of numbness
forgetting
for days, hours, minutes
until memory bursts.
smell, sounds,
the gray clouds on a dreary day
They bring back you
your perfume
advice-- both sought and not
the color of your eyes
I hear your voice
and again I am

Lost
in a deluge of pain
remembering
you're gone now
no hour long calls
when you're minutes away
No smiles
because I'm yours
no you
and I'm
Lost.

This was actually written after my mother's death, but I left it so it was a bit more general, and others could relate. Thanks for putting overtime into my work today!! ~Jan

Thanks you so much. I'm having to deal with her estate and that has made the grieving process a bit harder, because I slip into anger over and over that she left things a mess.

Lovely and yet so sad, Janet. Loss leaves emptiness in our lives which will always be hard to fill. Take care. // paul

Thanks for the comments on "Lost". It's odd that the two poems posted close together had such different origins. Didn't realize than until I looked at the new posts.

I liked the emotion displayed in your poem. It's always a tragedy to have that empty feeling when you lose someone. Well-written!
