Lost hopes, lost dreams
Filling up a heart that bleeds
Disillusion, disdain, dread
Of what is coming next
Lost feelings, lost faith
Living inside a soul who prays
For the second chance to be
Someone God can bless
Lost joy, lost peace
Thriving, surviving the past
Where there is only grief
Mourning for a vanished goal
Lost reserve, lost inhibition
Dreaded thoughts found within
Walking through the silence
Judgements overflowing inner wars
Lost memories, lost pleasure
Sense of dismay and despair warning
Of worries, pains and dreaded hate
Filling up the heart with bitter revulsion
Lost promises, lost desires
Freeing the loathing to rejection
Of all that is good, kind and positive
Filled with music that comes from confidence
Lost love, lost passion
Dreading the fear that consumes
With sorrow, regret and torment
Melancholy rejecting the wonder of affection
When they close the doors of the brothel
All that has been lost – is found
Within hearts who know that true love
Is more than the graze of an empty hand
They Closed the Brothel Poetry Contest
