Loss of the Semicolon

Loss of the Semicolon The semicolon is an odd mark; The use of which can be quite stark; It forces us to make a pause; Before we start a new clause; Now a study was conducted; An English college deducted; That the semicolon is in decline; So I’d better stop using it in this poem of mine!!!

Good one. I enjoyed reading it. I can't remember if you are supposed to use it at the end of a sentence or not. I think only a period, question mark or an explanation point at the end of a sentence. My English Grammar has declined in general. LOL.. Sara K

Thanks Sara. I never had any grammar skills to begin with:) I think it is used to separate two semi independent clauses. I used them at the end here for humor.

Thanks. I believe you are right on that. Guess we dont need to pause as often unless it is for effect.
