Loss of the Semicolon

Loss of the Semicolon

The semicolon is an odd mark;
The use of which can be quite stark;
It forces us to make a pause;
Before we start a new clause;
Now a study was conducted;
An English college deducted;
That the semicolon is in decline;
So I’d better stop using it in this poem of mine!!!

I think only a period, question mark or an explanation point at the end of a sentence. My English Grammar has declined in general. LOL.. Sara K Oliver Mckeithan May 21, 2025 at 2:42 AM Thanks Sara. I never had any grammar skills to begin with:) I think it is used to separate two semi independent clauses. I used them at the end here for humor.
