Loss of Life's Youth

Life runs through the fingers of an aging woman As she sits by the light of the broken window In the chair that rocks with each strained breath The same chair that once sent her children Into the land of innocent dreams In which they were too soon lost Memories no longer comfort her in this passage of time They all but kill her in this lonely moment And her empty soul longs to join the loved ones that she has lost The ones that went without her into the light Clutter her mind with undying pain Her longing helps her not For here she sits staring out that broken window Watching as life passes by with the quickness which it posses Watching as the children unknowingly die with each passing second Watching as people live life never knowing its true worth
