Loss of Innocence From a Young Youth In Oakland

Innocence was lost years ago Not mine, but everyone around me Some things changed White turned to black Friends turned to enemies Wrong turned to right And happiness turned to depression Escape was nowhere in sight But i needed more than anything to get out of here Everyone around me was changing Yet I didn’t want anything to do with it I didn’t wanna join them, I wanted out I was overwhelmed and felt suffocated Those were the years everything changed And somehow I managed to escape it
