Losing Light

When the memory starts to go And the brain is moving slow We know that something's not right And someone will slowly lose their light So sad their devastating plight Someone who once shone bright Finds their day turning into night There is no cure, they will lose the fight They've lost their shine, lost their glow They lost today, and their tomorrow

Dear Joseph, you're right, so many lose the fight; because there's no cure. That's so sad. This is tender and emotional, all at the same time. Your thoughts caress softly around me and my heart. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Your words cry out with the pain of those with dementia and alzheimers disease, Joseph. Indeed they both extinguish the light in life. Thank you for sharing this poem. Blessings!

So sad, but true to life, Joseph. No cure for aging and all that affects the body and mind. Well conveyed!

Such a poignant poem Joseph and tenderly composed. The title is profound. The last two lines, in particular, are incredibly touching. Well written and reflective. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you.

Sigh, unfortunately this is the sad reality of human life, for many people. How our hearts ache desperately, seeing our loved ones go through this state when their memories become a fleeting reflection and tears of emotions flow, yet searching for a familiar light..I can resonate with this, as I've seen my own maternal grandma suffer through dementia, she perhaps, doesn't remember me but, in feelings I know we both are deeply connected. This poem is soul-touching.. Sending you light & best wishes

Yes its true dear Joseph, having to see that with loved ones, some due to alzheimers and some due to dementia, and i think the same as what you’ve delivered here. This poem is so soulful. And deeply moving! I felt so much. Reading this. Sending you light today and always

Oh no. I hope these things never happen. The saying goes,"what you don't know, won't hurt you".

The idea that existence and its lessons will eventually leave us behind is a gloomy one, yet it is all very true.
