Lorelei of the Leaves

See how the lowly myrtle seduces the lordly pine. She entwines her arms around him, he submits. Beneath them falls their issue: not flesh, nor sinew, nor bone, Only, sweet symmetrical cone, its perfect whorls and burls, the best of both worlds.
