Looking Into Me
Looking into me-
Remembering what was
Long ago left behind.
Before such drama was found.
When I had thought
A dandelion was a flower.
Now they're picked and
Reckognized as "just a weed".
Looking into me-
Finding things that
Were never seen.
An adventurous and curious soul
That knew the world
Was for me to see it.
Now it seems so small.
Looking into me-
Wanting to know the feel
Of being held and kissed.
Yearning to feel like
I had belonged somewhere.
I found that it's
Not always great.
Looking into me-
Seeing that my life
Should be a map of significance,
But finding already
That I know where
I want to go.
Looking into me-
Learning that
Getting what you want
Isn't always the best.
That having a mirror
Of myself growing up
Doesn't mean that
I've left it behind.
It's with me.
Looking into me-
Feeling all that I felt
Every little baby step
Of my walk of life.
Looking into me-
Searching for those moments
That left me breathless,
The childhood wishes that
I could actually carry out,
The ones I couldn't,
And where that girl is now.
Looking into me-
Finding that
I've always been here.
