Looking Into Hollow Eyes

Lost years echo through the silence
reflections shimmer on yesterday's dark days
words float like dead leaves
down drains of honey-covered tongues
dripping from hollow eyes
of passion exposed as a cure

time rushes into small rooms of expectations
lives entwine in a dance of convenience
stripping away souls to forget crippled emotions
that lay hungry and starved in dark pits of loneliness

pain flows down its walls of anguish
leaving pools of nightmares
that ripples over covered eyes
creating cocoons that hang on the eyelids of time
exposed to colder winds of tomorrow
hoping to survive unrestrained
to wait and die another death
from a faceless form whose eyes are never satisfied
wearing exhausted smiles paid for by a lonely soul
craving to be loved

....the whole poem is a sheer mastery of words channeled through the pangs of longing and love. The imagery is perfect in it's construction to climax. My favourite part of the poem ..."creating a cacoon that hangs on the limb of time exposed to colder winds of tomorrow"...cocoon's are very strong, they can withstand the most ferocious winds. Nature works in mysterious ways. Visions of a person sitting in a cacoon on a calm veranda waiting for the winds of time and elusive love.
