My first Ligeia sonnet. I do not believe Poe ever had a real Annabell Lee, the entire mood of the poem does not support it in my opinion. But I do believe he really had a real live Ligea, though he never married her. She sort of made Poe hallucinate possibly out of a opium trance at times. "To love we die, or never love one bit!" This line pretty well describes every girl Poe ever wrote about, and he insisted that the best of poetry must be about, or for, a beautiful girl. I can drink to that. Thank you Maya Angelou for putting me onto some of the secrets of Poe.
