Looking Backward

There is no going back
To those days of love, now past.
Though memory can take me there,
I miss your loving arms.

To those days of love, now past
My heartstrings stretch forever.
I miss your loving arms.
My future lies behind me.

My heartstrings stretch forever
To happy days of yore.
My future lies behind me.
I pine the then be now.

To happy days of yore
When our love was young and new,
I pine the then be now
And I’m in your arms again.

When our love was young and new,
Though memory can take me there
And I’m in your arms again,
There is no going back.
