Looking Back
Looking back,
my memory cheats on me.
It hides what I want to recall
and glimpses only pieces of time.
The whole picture and its chronology
is incomplete and haphazardly displayed.
One memory competes with another
then both are lost to visualization.
Perhaps, the past is just passed
and forgotten easily.
Looking back brings no better clarity to today
it still fades and obscures the future.
Spring and summer have gone quickly
like day flowing into night.
For now, for me, autumn clings
and autumn neither looks back nor forward.
Autumn is
my ever present nos.
