Look For Dad

Remember
when I was in third grade,
my first “pas seul” in basic ballet.
Off stage, I was nervous, blinded by the spotlights.
I had learned my routine like a book,
and Mom's words came to mind,
“Look for Dad.”
His face shown like a star.
Past the forest of faceless figures,
you both were standing right where you said you would be.
I knew that you were praying for me.
that was all I needed
to blossom.

A sweet write for a youth in a first recital. I always looked for my parents, and they were always there for me. I like this one Reason. :)
