Longing

A thing we long for since birth
plays games of hide and seek
We stand up and watch horizons
but we see only smoky fire of lies

Our grandfathers tell us tales of wonder
about the golden age of pure leadership
But we‘re warned not to scatter our tongues
where stomach is the Governor In- Chief

We read books and we’re left in suspense
myths and legends of glory excite us
To young seeds we turn our hopes
but we discover their embryos looted

We kneel down to pray without ceasing but
Merciless clouds donate lightning thunder
