Notes About The Poem

Long Shadows
Long Shadows
Low sinks the orange tinted sun
In the far away horizon,
Like a fiery ball dipping low,
With a bright sparkling amber glow.
Long shadows creep across the lawn
Where dry leaves, by the breeze are blown,
Trees stand tall, with whispers around,
Projecting themselves on the ground.
Sleepy birds, in search of some rest
Hasten to comfort of their nest,
Marking tall shadows of their flight
As they retreat ahead of night.
Across streets, shadows softly creep,
In shape of houses, long and deep,
Garden walls old, now weathered stones
Cast darker shadows, swiftly grown.
A wealthy trader`s shining gate
Pitches a shadow tall and straight,
Fields of golden hues now turn grey
As darkness stretches on the way.
The world turns to a mystic show,
Where long shadows silently grow
As the moon sheds a silver light
And sprinkles around its delight.
In time, twinkling stars start to gleam,
Eyeing the shadows, as in dreams,
The long shadows are set to fade
When dawn will shape a fresh new shade.
