Lonely Thanksgiving Holiday

Loneliness, brought upon myself. My' Grass is greener" mentality Is the reason why I'm sitting here on Thanksgiving lonely. I cook, not your typical meal, Spaghetti with chunks of Veal. A lone soldier, are these feelings real? stressed, these emotions hard to conceal.. distraught, Do you feel me? Over time my heart will heal, can you hear the lyrics my heart is singing. My depression, so surreal. On this lonely Thanksgiving holiday.... Jared Pickett 11/27/09 Asavvy1

I can feel your loneliness here, Jared. I chose to read this poem because as a young woman in my late twenties, I found myself spending holidays alone. (It must have been the recluse in me,LOL) Anyway, Thanksgiving became a spiritual experience. I began a personal tradition of writing down every single little think that I was thankful for. I think that I wrote about 3 pages that first year. And I no longer felt lonely. It's just a suggestion. Youth is such a difficult time. You write it well.

Aw-Is your mom, gone? if so sorry, Holidays are not the same since I had two brother in laws die, my husband gets depressed and all. His mom believes one of their sons is lost and keeps calling the police to find him-it is sad.

Sad, but well written. It is time to count your blessings: Sun, or clouds, soothing rain or swift breezes, trees, Poet friends aplenty, another day to make it a better one, etc. Yes, your heart will heal, better days are acoming, but do find things to be grateful for. It helps. :) Caroline.
