Lonely Spirit

Once, at midnight, I sat up on my bed, And lifted up, in dismay, my head. For there was a boy with a ghostly tail Leaning upon the balcony rail. I shouted,"Who's there?";My shout startled him, He quickly jumped on the railing's rim. I said,"Stop there! You cannot flee - Now turn round and face me!" He squeaked,"Let me go! I'm only a ghost! I beg of you, human mighty most!" And suddenly, he let a sob out - I pleaded,"Now please don't spout! I saw you crying, say why you cry?" He exclaimed,"How can you ask? You know 'why'?" "From dawn to dusk, I sit and moan, All through the day, I'm so alone. I have no one to speak to, no one to talk to, Humans everywhere, I've nowhere to walk to. I hide from you, throughout the day; And in the night I find my way. Humans get scared on seeing me, they run away. They don't understand I was a human someday - I'm only a spirit, yet I cry - Now can you understand, the question 'why'?" And then he disappeared, giving a last wail, I failed to spot his ghostly tail; He'll soar to the moon over hill and dale, I looked up at the sky from my balcony rail. Then, with eyes and cheeks wet, I sat on my bed And on the pillow, slowly dropped my head.
