Lonely Breeze

I had to guide the lonely breeze again
to the chords of a swinging chime
And the wounded steps of a wedding rhyme
Through the gust of precarious choice
and the distressed rain’s choice to fall
I had to ride the raindrops’ uneasy sway
on tested follicles so immune to time
And the shaky endurance that seeks to slay
the howling winds
I had to find a home for praise
so it resides in their smothered din
That still retains the roaring wish
to insert a calm inside
And safe from the withered embrace…
And there lies all pride denied
And duets that failed and testified
To swollen seas that broke a lonely wave
To a lonely breeze that swerved
and turned away
