Living With Eyes Closed

She tempts me
Silver words fly from a hazy mouth
A shattered laugh rings through
Shapeless promises
Violent pleasures

Waltzing through mazes
Of cross-eyed moons.

Face of ivory
You regard me with your sharp tongued lies
Seeking for something out of reach
That only I can give you.

Your words held me prisoner
Steel chains wrapped around my legs
Pulling me deeper into myself
And I cannot tell you no.

Your body of harmony wreaks so much havoc.
Taunting me with a laugh of breaking glass.
You let me hold the pieces together
But you know they only cut.

Blood pooling at my feet
And glass shards in my palm.
Hide the pain, close the fist.
1…Inhale
2…Exhale
3…Hesitate
And smile.

Absolutely wonderful Iris, you're such a wordsmith, your style, I like it, something you wrote to one of my poems too.

Oh thank you so much! Sorry I just saw your comment usually I try to reply right away, but thank you! I got inspiration from two different poems that sounded a lot better combined. Have a nice day!
