Several months after I wrote this piece, I discovered the following quote from Thich Nhat Hanh, The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching: Transforming Suffering into Peace, Joy, and Liberation, which, to a certain extent, expresses the same sentiment.

Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety, or possessions – we cannot be free.

I struggle to find a world of peace kindness understanding in a world of conflict hatred distrust. My found world exists for me and me alone. But I willingly, nay, happily, give up the outer world for one where I can be myself, unjudged by those who know no peace, only conflict and discontent. Hi Beto. I agree with you. This world is slowly going downhill. All we can do is put our contribution in. Thanks for sharing this

Hello Gregory, I have been concerned about this for more than 50 years when I discovered that the news - even in the '50s - was fake news. Hasn't gotten better since then :-( beto
