Damned by the devil's curse upon my heart
I pace the lonely bridge twixt love and hate
Stalked by death's shadow from the very start
Forsaken by the guiding hand of fate

My restless soul sleeps in the tangled thorns
Nursed by the acrid milk of bitter weed
Tormented nightly by old lovers scorned
And haunted by a score of sinful deeds

Pray, take me now to storm the gates of hell
Confront the wicked one and question why
Twas reason for my birth under his spell
To live a loveless life until I die

I curse this lonely life given to me
The fire of hell is all t'will set me free

Powerful poem, Daniel. A clarion call for answers to the eternal "why." Masterpiece, bro. A 7 all the way up to 11! Great pen strokes here, Mr. Poet Man. Love and peace to you.

Emotion of true sentiment of a being who was misguided previously by devilish inner quality now releasing all sins in the burning fire of repentance. Excellently done my dear friend. A 7. Hugs, Cloudy poet, bl

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. It is merely a poem from the dark side of my muse. I have been blessed with many many loves in my life.

Thank you Mrs Sandra. You are so kind. Yes, I'm still trying to master the form. It just came out a little dark. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.

Amazing write!! Dark is the word. Hopefully a bit of therapy in this exquisitely crafted gem...The differing starting points and momentum that everyone seems to have is one reason I strongly suspect this isn't our first go-round here...just guessing...

It is simply a painting. Perhaps a tad of therapy but unintentional. I was really working on form and content. I think we all have a dark side. This is just what came out after reading some of Shakespeare's sonnets. Thank you for your wonderful comments and insight, Tom.

I've been reading Shakespeare's sonnets and somehow this is what came out. I believe it is perfect iambic pentameter. It's just a poem! Thanks for stopping by my friend. I really appreciate your continued support.
