Live Not In the Past

I try not to think of what might have been;
The triumphs destroyed by all my mistakes.
Moments I wish to do over again,
Erasing the pain of all my heartbreaks.

No sense in dwelling on what can’t be changed.
All that will do is to make one depressed.
The pieces of life can’t be rearranged
The puzzle is done, for worse or for best.

We are who we are. We’ll go where we go.
We’ll do what we do just as we have done.
Where we’ll end up, well, we never quite know.
We strive for answers where there can be none.

Though it is tempting to dwell on the past,
Doing so means happiness will not last.
