Hi Darlene, I wrote this from an experience I had when I was two years old. We lived in Navy housing that stretched row after row for a mile. One day I wandered off and one of our neighbors found me six blocks away. My independence and nomadic spirit cost my mom a few grey hairs that day. Thanks again for your feedback.

Dear Randy, I enjoyed your tenderly written haiku about a child’s emerging and inevitable march towards independence. Both a blessing and a curse. Your poem captures a scary moment in a parent’s life, and a liberating moment in the child’s, with wonderful brevity and poetic finesse. Warmest wishes my friend.. ~Susan

Hi Susan, when I was two or three years old, I went exploring the neighborhood. We lived in block after block of Navy housing and I was found six blocks away from home. Needless to say, I added a few years to my mom's life on that one. I still have that nomadic spirit today. Thanks for your comments little sister.
