Literature is Dead

      Literature is dead
        so say talking heads
      Done in by new technology
        with an assist from eschatology

Whoa, Nellie! Hold your horses here
        Illiteracy’s been wiped out
More folks read than ever before
        ~ it’s literature that’s burnt out

You make a good point with this one, Gershon. The readers are abundant ... good literature / poetry ... not so much. Blessings my friend, Bill p.s. finally got caught up reading and commenting on your poetry. I've been in a slump for a few days because of writing and posting. LOL

What a witty and sharp piece! I love how you blend humor with social critique—especially that clever twist on the last line. Literature may not be dead, but this poem proves it's very much alive and kicking.

Hello Gershon, “Literature is dead,” they say, but you showed me it’s not reading that’s fading it’s something else, something deeper. It’s like we’re losing the soul behind the stories not just the stories themselves. Your words pull that tension out real sharp with that mix of tech and eschatology. Fascinating Read. Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

No, there is still illiteracy in America. Somehow students still slip through the cracks and end up not being able to read and have gone 12 years to school. At one time, there was a program here to help adults learn to read. There are so many things that can affect a human which can cause them to have trouble learning to read like Dyslexia. As some people have problems with doing math. Some people have problems with memory which can really mess with all the subjects. Sara K
