Listening To the Waves

As one walks along the seafront
tune in to the waves breaking forth
especially as the winds are in full force
there's a sound so loud it feels hoarse

Across the world the sounds not the same
so many oceans have their own voice
a perspective so different from one another
listen in depth so then you have a choice

In my native Scotland on the Clyde
the wind was causing waves to crash
with sounds aggressive but true
which tells you stay calm, no rash

Walking along a very hot seafront
Fuerteventura Island was my place
watching waves speak words so still
makes one ponder to find my space

Stroll along the Indian Ocean
the waters running over my toes
listening intently ear ever open
here in South Africa cover my woes

(Quote:
"I was born with the ability to hear the sea speak, she had so much to say, it broke my heart." - Anon. )

Good Morning Gordon. Hello. With a title such as yours here of course I had to turn the page (smile). I have no words or commentary to add to your entry because it defines poetry beauty and poetic elements. As one reads, the emotive factor is present. Be very proud of your creation and execution as well. It was an honor turning to your page this morning. Thank you for sharing with us. Have a wonderful morning. Blessings always

You have created a lure to the sea with these passionate words of amiration, Gordon. I enjoyed the walk by the sea with you today. Much to think about now, from what the waves had to say. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

"Across the world the sounds are not the same" (IMO) we hear what we want to hear, which is not the same as listening. We see what we want to see, not the same as observing. Nice write, Gordon. Hoping you are well.

It's still my hope to visit your wonderful shores one day, Gordon. I'm not 'bathe in the sun' person, but a walk on sandy shores to hear the rush of waves and call of gulls? That's inspirational to me.

Thanks Jenna, Glad you enjoyed this piece and indeed I'm not a ' bathe in the sun person's either, don't understand those that fly loads of miles just to lie in the sun and miss other great views in these resorts. As you say just to hear the rush of waves is truly inspiring. Blessings always,Gordon
