Listening Is Loving
Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil. Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting. Love never fails!

This is my story filled with compassion and care,
exposing scarred memories, so hard to share.
Raised in a world where a child had no voice,
obedient, no options, no choice.
A family with a legacy of abuse and deceit,
A damaged life, I chose not to repeat.
Silenced for so long, the truth needed to be told,
and with reason beside me, I let my story unfold.
I found solace and peace from the haunting past,
exposing the truth, freed at last.
Love is listening without judgement, tender and true;
a salve of kindness that saw me through.
Leaving behind the shadows that dampened life,
now in the open, free from strife.
My source of reason, my daughter, my best friend,
her listening is loving, immeasurable, without end.
