Listen

When I was in counseling
This analogy was given to me
God threw you a pebble, you did not listen
God threw you a stone, you did not listen
God threw you a rock, you still did not listen
Finally HE threw a boulder
He got your attention by a diagnosis of cancer
He gave me all the warning signs
I did not listen
He wanted me to change
To take time out and enjoy life to the fullness
Now I truly listen and heed his message
So I ask you to listen
Just maybe you will hear what HE has to say
You know that God truly works in mysterious ways

Wow, the wisdom of His wondrous ways... From pebbles to boulders one final day.. Glad to know you are spirited enough ... When things turn ugly and so rough... Poetry can be the salve you seek... Am sure we're all here for you in spirit... Keep on truckin'... keep 'em comin' in...

Your poem reminds me of this: Incline your ear and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live...For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are my ways, your ways. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. -Isaiah 55 It's a hard thing to find the humility to accept that difficulties are part of the plan, a plan we often don't understand. Beautiful poem, and thank you for sharing it.

This analogy has helped me to turn the negative into something positive. One thing was that I could write poetry.Until now I never gave it a thought. I feel if my poem could help someone put a spin on the negative into something positive then I accomplished what I set out to do. Thanks again for your comment.
