Like We Used To Do As Friends

Just like trees change in the fall people change to
When you knew me I was a different person
I did not know who I was
I did not know who I wanted to be
I was confused just like any other teen
I hope you know many things have changed in my life

I know we used to be friends then
It was two years ago
You don't know who I became in two year's
I am not proud of myself for leaving my best friend
But there was nothing I could do
The court gave me to my father to live here

I wish I still had you has a friend
But I am here and you are ten states away from me
I have other friends that love me just as much as you did
Yes I am in good hands
Yes they make me smile everyday at the silly things they do
Yes they help me when I am in tears because some guy had the guts to hurt me
Yes we talk about boys all the time
These are all the lovely things that I love about my friends
And half the things they do for me now are not everything we did together
But they take care of me like you used to do as my sister
I miss my old friend well I guess this is a good bye Alex

How sad that you had to bid Alex goodbye. Old friends are treasures and I hope one day you will see each other again. I live in Florida and my best friend since age 14 is in New Hampshire. We make it a point to get together a couple times each year and it's always like we had never been apart. Don't give up on this friendship, dear. Best wishes, Carolyn

Sometimes destiny does call us in other directions. But near or far friendship should remain the same. I feel a lot of hurt emotions in this piece. Continue to share and thanks for reading my work also...
