Like Father, Like Son

Like father, like son
No
Like son, like father
That is how I wish to be remembered

I wish to be remembered
Not for who I was
But for who I became
In honor of my son

I wish to be remembered
Not for being a good father
But for who I raised
To be a good son

I wish to be remembered
Not for the love I gave
But for the blessing
Of love given by my son

I wish to be remembered
Not for the times I laughed 
But for the moments
My son laughed with me

I wish to be remembered
Not for when I smiled
But for the difficult days
When my son still smiled 

I wish to be remembered
Not for all the good times
But for the bad ones
When my son made them better

Most of all
I wish to be remembered
For raising a man
Who I proudly call my son
