Like An Arrow

Like a stained knife that left perennial pain, your parting words pervaded through my veins~ inflicting an excruciating agony that lingered on from sunrise to sunset. And here beneath the dark clouds as I glance upon the silhouettes of the ruins of a once silent sanctuary of our unrequited love~ teardrops fall as hot as wild fire traversing wilderness. Now I still I still don't know the way back to my self again. Just let me pick my broken pieces that I may be whole again. 12 August 2020 For Inflictions Poetry Contest Sponsored by Silent One 1st place Entered for "All Yours ( April 28) Poetry Contest" Sponsored by Brian Strand

Finding our way back to ourselves can be a lonely journey, JCB, especially when that trek starts with pain wrenching footsteps! You are wise to undertake the journey with such eloquent words as companions! Congratulations on your first place win! Your poem shows both sides of the coin!

Love this one, and I think your top placement is very well deserved. I like how you said "exlusively for..." I am using poems for double duty purpose now that Brian is allowing us to use concurrent contest entries or N/A's!

I could feel your pain in this poem.. we all need a silent sanctuary, to help us to heal.. Once there is noise, there i no silence, sadly.. so we search to find peace.. how weird, i wrote a poem called silent sanctuary today! Congratulations on your first place in the contest..
