Notes About The Poem

Like a Child

Like a child, I come to You Trusting with my heart Your love and compassion You knew me from the start ~ Like a child, I whisper to You Prayers from my spirit Sent to your heavenly throne And I know you’ll listen ~ Like a child, I wait for You To guide me through When I’m lost and alone You answer me anew ~ Like a child, I compare You With my parents here on earth But they cannot equal You Despite knowing me at birth ~ Like a child, I confide in You My secret yearnings and dreams Always aware of Your gifts Always loving and joyful it seems ~ Like a child, I plan with You For great moments in the future Even though they’re here now Those days that are quite sooner ~ Like a child, I long for You The Master of all my life To be as close as possible Much dearer than a wife ~ Like a child, I know that You Will stay with me throughout Giving me a friend so true That I’m feeling totally devout ~ Like a child, I hope that You Will never leave my side And you promised me to stay With you I can always abide ~ Like a child, I love You More than I can say With love that is alive And love that will not sway

Enjoyed your poem, Regina, "Like a Child." The words below are very appealing: Like a child, I wait for You To guide me through When I’m lost and alone You answer me anew. Keep it up.

I’m AGAIN taken away by the words that you expressed in your poem. It lifted my day off to an amazing start with the passion you put into it making me feel happy inside. As you know I’m a fan of your work. Congrats on the win my friend Matt

Gina, I was delighted to see your first place win with this lovely poetic remembrance of Jesus saying "Let the little children come to me", and "If anyone would enter the kingdom, he must come as a child". We are to trust God as a child trusts his or her father. Amen, and congratulations on your win, dear friend ~ John

Congratulations on your win! A marvelous capture of the innocent faith that echoes so well "suffer not the children to come unto Me."

Gina, this is a beautiful statement of tender, childlike faith. I love all of your scriptural references.. The picture you chose is one I have framed for my office. Greg Owen is one of my favorite artists. I also really like the repetition at the beginning of each stanza. Congratulations dear friend. So happy to see this on the winners list! Harvest blessings!

this touched me because i remember sometimes as a child i would talk to God through my pain and tell him well they aren't really my parents, i am your child and you chose them for me, but... anyway love this one Gina....beautiful write! love and hugs and many blessings... :) Sandy

I can remember talking to God when I was little, too, and am sorry if you didn't have a great childhood... mine was good, not perfect, but good. I love your comments... they bless my heart. Thank you always. Love and prayers and many blessings, Gina
