Lighthouse

Your pillar of truth Our beacon of light Show us the way (of the) Starboard and the portside Illuminate me now Bedazzle me white See me so small Im blinded in sight Thy tower so tall Empowered to write Exposed by your beam Ghostly ship in the night 'pon steely hard granite Imploring your rays (like) Coved dish of satelite A tempestuous sea In the saline of my sight Inscribed on those palms Was Thy love for me Later to be gored By these very same hands Who's blood this I see? Striped red 'round this house Flows down the trunk of a tree Amix with my own 'Twould be an honor for me When drawn from the well Make me the same Comes one perrilous night A torch to forgive (Magnificent power!)-a bearer of light

They are both lucky they are alive...thankfully his wife was unharmed and was there to get him to the hospital in time...never been to South Africa, I bet it's very beautiful despite the troubles. My middle sister lived with her husband and newborn son in KweKwe Zimbabwe in the early 90's, husband was working for some Gold Mine there. One day, maybe, I'll journey there. Your poem really drove this real life story well Jannie. x

Bravo Jannie you open our eyes to the atrocities that are happening in your land, i've just googled and read a newspaper report on what happened and it is truly shocking and amazing he survived his terrible injuries. its no wonder he is emigrating and even more incredible that he forgave his attackers - many others would not be so christian in attitude. Stay safe my friend, hugs jan xx

The depth of your words profoundly impacted my emotions of the atrocities happening to good people just trying to live their lives peacefully Jannie. This tribute says as much about you as it does about him. Blessings to you all. This is exceptional! Love, Conne xxoo

Extraordinary write, Jannie, with so much insight and creativity to take on a heavy subject ... as always, I can count on your work to move my spirit and mind, get the wheels turning, and try to improve this hate-filled world we live in. Superb write, my friend - I am honored to know you! (And I must admit, I didn't think you were on the site anymore - I have not seen you "around" in ages). Blessings, Brother. Much love and respect. - G

I completely understand, Jannie, (though for much different reasons), and that's why I have found writing darker things so enriching and healing. You are constantly in my thoughts, Friend ... you are good folk, and a valued friend. Your Buddy, Greg.

How you do him just with words to invoke the powerful and intangible lift he gave to lives and circumstance. Your muse is once again fueled with raw, eager passion heart and journey born. I hope he will see this and I know he will tell the tale of truth wherever willing ears prevail. As a poet and a fighter, you are fighting as a poet and once again I am moved to find you showing it. Love ... CayCay in the wee hours of America thinking of Africa
