Light that Lights All Lights
In the dim darkness of the night
When the moon is draped with grey clouds,
When no shining stars greet the sight
And deafening noises are cowed,
In the quietude of the night
When only warm whispers of leaves
Kissed by the breeze sprawl some delight
And from worries we are relieved,
If in the stillness of such night
With faith we close our outer eyes,
Get ourselves seated quite upright
And scan the depth of inner ties,
We may perceive some inner light
That sparkles from the inner self--
A light that sheds a flame quite bright
And wishes just to guide ourselves.
It is spark of the inward light
That guides man to the rightful path,
Chases the dark gloom of the night
And forestalls the taint of wrath.
Even in the shine of the day
Amidst hustle of the city
When a vexing crowd swarms the way
And the air around is sticky,
If we set ourselves aside,
From the mad bustle take a flight
And we try to peer deep inside,
We may sense the glow of a light;
It is the light of faith quite bright
That drives dull delusions away
Restores one`s confidence upright
And ignites one`s trust every day.
Yet beyond the bounds of such lights
Lies a greater light — effulgent,
Brightest among the most-bright,
Everlasting and transcendent.
It is the light that lights all lights
Illuminates the universe --
More radiant than the sunlight
And has not eyed the pangs of birth.
Let us hail such a divine light
And with deepest faith make a plea
That it ignites our inner light
And from all evils set us free;
Let us greet such a sublime light
That steers us in our life`s voyage,
Drives us to a realm ever bright
Along our journey`s every phase.
