Granite monoliths, mark our buried dead;
inscribed headstones, inked by light and shadow.
And as a crescent moon shines overhead
Juliet seeks to find her Romeo,
among the gravestones set in a row.
Silence presides over the ghostly gloom,
as she feels the names engraved on each stone.
Her tears flow as she searches for his tomb
concealed by the weeds that have overgrown;
she has never felt so sad and alone.
An ebony shroud envelops the night,
as she searches for a name; time forgot.
And yet, aided by the moon's feeble light,
she finally finds his neglected plot;
placing a bouquet of roses she'd brought.
She'd chosen not to revisit his death,
forcing herself to forget where he lay.
And begs his forgiveness under her breath;
for there are many things she's come to say,
and kneeling by his grave, she starts to pray.
