I spent my day shopping for rubies Choosing between such bold beauties Rosy reds, blushing with enthusiasm Glowing so profusely, as if it’s phantasm There were hues of timid pink and cherry Vivid arrays of crimson that seemed so merry I lost my head amid the sparkling treasures Sensing inspiration amongst these pleasures Reflections of wisdom were filling my reveries Enlightenment whispers across gentle memories I yearn for the moments when I caught sight Of that exquisite gem so lovely and so bright Magnificent joy soothed my senses with serenity Causing my heart to realize this could be obscenity Mysterious warmth breathed into my very soul Blowing passion and promise that would make me whole There wasn’t a doubt about this stone’s ability Caressing my spirit with the assurance of nobility Dreams were unleased where once was catastrophe Living feeling opened doors to hearts blooming bashfully Flourishing words came into my thoughts and plans Reminding me of someone who had such strong hands Their spirit danced with insight and warm enthusiasm Within their nature there could be no genuine sarcasm I assure you that I soon discovered the perfect jewel One that would send ripples of thrills to make one drool There is a certainty that this gemstone will stay with me A dazzling reminder of how light and love always agree First Line Prompt - 3 Poetry Contest Sponsored by Julia Ward June 5, 2020

My youngest daughter's birthstone is a ruby. Love to give her one on her birthday. Great job here. God Bless, JB
