Light
‘I was born with the meaning of home running through my veins.”
—Lauren Eden The Lioness Awakens, Poems
Light
i swing
in trees I can’t get down from
i buried myself in leaves
the branches
of salt shine from Navy boots
spoiled in adventure
smiling
as i jettison
above sun
i’m at home
love my family
the military
the church
i swing
to the hereafter
and generations will be kind to remember God
the light
in my eyes
splashdown
as i leap
from the highest branch
