Lifting the Hex

I bit the ampule
hard enough to cut my tongue.
I let the splinters rake their penance
against my frenulum for months.

Still, it won't change the trajectory,
not all at once—nothing does.

A powerfully penned piece Jaymee; Dark menacing, and disturbingly cathartic, just like some Lars Von Trier movies, The Antichrist and Melancholia; slowly cuts away at the soul, cheers David

Oh, I hadn't considered the similarity in tone to his Depression Trilogy. I love the reference though, and I feel a little flattered you think it gives those vibes. Thanks for sharing your impression, David. I may try to work this lane a little longer :)
