Life's Tide

As a younger man I walked in dreams But few turned out, or so it seems And somewhere in Life’s foray They got lost along the way Why were they lost, or where they be Are inconsequentially Without substance or even name With which for me to lay a claim, Of evidence of thoughts long past Of lost legacy of fame to cast My minds footprints of my stride Washed away within Life’s tide.

A very fine poem. One that I can identify with easily myself! You say it so very well. Bravo!

Good morning, Jack. That one rings pretty true for me. Life got in the way of many dreams. But, now that I'm retired I have more time and some of those dreams still exist. So, time to get busy. It's never to late. Thanks for sharing Jack.....Robert.

Oh, my yes, Robert. I've found the same to be true within my retirement years, as well. I rarely had time to pen poetry during my professional years ... and I welcome the opportunity now - as I'm sure you do. Thank you for your comments. I appreciate them, truly. Jack C
