No sugar, no cream, jet-black and bitter; nothing to enhance the taste. That's how I like the truth, in all its forms. Just give it to me straight! The more bitter, the better! No sugar, yes, let it stay bland No cream to change the hue to cafe au lait. That's how I like my dose of reality That's how I like justice That's how I like my friendships and relationships. That's how I like promises made I love life's cup of joe black as coal so I can taste the beans! I don't care If my taste buds disapproves. No sugar, no cream. I want it's true flavor. I want it to linger on my palate. Please and thank you! As for a cup of joe itself, Sure, I'll take sugar and cream... Date written: 05/26/2021

Awww, the morning craving. How my cup begins with the bitter, but my sugar slowly turns it to peace and brown happiness. At times I hear a happy percolating song, "You'll take the cream and the 'sweetie pie" coffee" It keeps the bitter at bay and without it for me, comes a bad day :) Give me the coffee, and nobody gets hurt!

Getting our "coffee" without embellishment, but from a constructive brew, produces trust! Great metaphor, Edward. Sincere congratulations and high fives for your win! Great to see this on the winners list.

You're what my parents used to call a 'starker:" Just the facts! No embellishments! ... I'll take my coffee black too. Nice write, Edward. Cheers, Gershon

Wonderful writing. I really enjoyed this one,.. I like cream at least - sugar too sometimes, but agree that life is best given in absolute true taste of it. God bless you always, Love, Gina
