'lifelong'

It was fleeting 
The connection made
I am sure you felt it too 
In between the laughter of others
Your eyes held mine
        I was challenged 
I wanted to stare you down
Instead you kept the pace 
Without breaking a sweat
     You told me then 
Just like you are doing now
With your eyes 
This is not fleeting

         It is long-lasting
