Lifeless Shores

Bloodless insects slink down cracks and fissures
   Chastised Earth mumbles her prayer
Aimless buzzards circle, eyeing lifeless shores

Dreaded gases envelop jungles
Mighty timbers writhe on forest's floor
Weeds grotesque choke once-cities
Soundless streets of dark glory's gore...

Stagger, Stumble, Wretch and Heave
The Last Day on this Planet grieves

Here we go: 5 billion (years) 4 billion, nine-hundred ninety-nine million, nine-hundred ninety-nine thousand, nine-hundred ninety-nine (years)… Stick around, we'll get to the end of this "Planet Earth" thing... LOL. Thanks so much for your support, allen! Best wishes, Gershon

I am shuddering as it seems closer now.

You're feeling is justified, Caren. The end is at least one nanosecond closer now, about 4,999,999,999 years away or so. Don't lose any sleep over it now. :) gw

Let's hope this dystopian future never comes to pass-

Not in our lifetimes... not for a few billion years anyway, according to the astronomers... Just didn't want you to miss out on the exciting details. LOL. :) gw
