Life is a song 
so tap one’s feet or bang a gong 
sometimes go wrong 
Who cares if short or pretty long
once we belong
Shake your booty in a sarong 
twerk that thin thong 
In California try a bong
just not too strong 
Whether alone or with a throng 
do bop along

Dear David Kavanagh, this actually made me smile and i love the sense of humor that flows within your well articulated lines that also has a pinch of profound truth and wisdom, so creative and lyrical! It has a catchy cadence! very lighthearted poem, and this line i can see through that “ Shake your booty in a sarong twerk that thin thong “ hah. I can literally see someone do that! Loved that! Made me smile today, why not just be carefree , like a hippy a free spirit! What made you choose California? I think about cult leaders like Warren Jeffs and his followers, it's the young ones who are fooled. If life could only be a song for them.

I do love double comments Anaya, I was after listening to the Chili peppers on Spotify, and they inspired this little upbeat funk poem, they’re lyrically so California! So went with the Vibe, Jane’s Addiction is a kick ass band too, I think I’ll leave the (Cult)s out of this one although I do like their music! cheers David

I have a sarong, but I don't have a thong, ha and I am pretty long! I don't twerk I sway to try to match the rhythm and energy of the songs. (Jane's Addiction). it's different kind of poetry for you, gl in the contest.
