Life Can Change Anything

I beg your pardon
do you have to stare
my clothes are shabby
and yes I care

I lost my job
through no fault of my own
then my car
then my home

Age is a factor
or it was in my case
I once wore satin
I once wore lace

Life jumped up
then knocked me down flat
after thirty years of devotion
zap

Don't get to comfortable
and think not me
because out of no where
I now see
