If you love wealth, do not love me
For there are many who are richer than me

If you love beauty, do not love me
For there are many who are more beautiful than me

Yet if it is love that you love, only love me
For there is no one who loves you more than I.

Hello, Salome. I'm just curious. Do you write any poetry in German first and then translate to English. I understand simple German like some of your poem titles. I lived in Germany 18 months so I understand more than I speak. It's been a lot of years. Anyway, I've started reading your poems and enjoy them. I'll add you to my watch list so I don't miss any gems.

Dearest Jan, I write about ~ 60% of my poems in German first, 10% in Swiss German and 30% in English. While my English is pretty good, I lack the flowery vocabulary needed to express myself - but am actively trying to gain a larger vocab! For now, I look up synonyms & words that rhyme online. I'd love to post some of my German poems that have nice rhyme schemes but that is not allowed on this website. If you're interested, I can soup mail you one. A beautifully restrained free-verse poem, built on clear parallelism and a quietly powerful turn in its final stanza. The contrast between worldly measures and steadfast love gives the ending real tenderness and conviction.
