Liberty and Death
Someone once said "Give me liberty or give me death." I say, give me liberty ‘and’ give me death.
He that said give me liberty or give me death spoke of the death of the grave. Yes, you can give me the death of the grave, in due time, but also give me the death of my ways
He who has been given liberty by Christ need not worry about the death of the grave. Death cannot hold you or me, just like it could not hold Christ.
Albeit I do seek to die daily the death of my ways
I want to take on the ways of Christ so that I can enjoy my liberty from the grave in a greater way, seeing that if I give life to my ways I bear the suffocating consequences in life – although still free from the death of the grave.
When I see the grave, I am sure to rise from it anew, immortal, never to die again, forever enjoying the New Jerusalem - the Great Paradise better known as Heaven. But let me die to my ways, that I may be able to gain the more, not only here and now, but also then and forever more.
So again I say, give me liberty ‘and’ give me death
The death of my ways, and the death of the grave
