Liars

Liars  (an acrostic and rhyme)
   by Amy Swanson, Nov. 2008

Look into my eyes, tell me the truth for once - a lie
  Is all it ever was, I know that now.
    Although my love for you runs deep, my soul
       Retreats from your caress; you have
          Shown me you are just another one of many liars.

Liars always seem to know
    exactly what to do;
they'll say whatever it might take
     to make you think the lie is true.

In deceit they spin their webs
     of never-ending lies,
and get so comfortable with it
     they'll look you in your eyes

and make it seem so real, and true,
     the words they say could make you weep;
but they are simply con-men,
     the masters of deceit.

However, there will come a day,
     when they no longer can atone
for loved ones will no longer listen
      and they will wake to find they are alone.

Excellent Ann! You grace us with an opening acrostic, AND a wonderful quatrain. Fine enjambment, cadence and rhyme. Love, Keith

So much truth in this one. Clever way to combine two poetry forms to convey your message. Nice job! Karen
