Leviathan
A spray that glistened brightly in the sun
alerted us to what lay just below.
So close was he, we thought we’d surely run
headlong, colliding with a forceful blow.
And then, as if to say I’m not yet done,
his tail appeared: a curtain call for show.
We braced, assuming we were impact-bound;
instead, leviathan commenced to sound.
